Bar Top Epoxy on Soild Oak Top

I have used two part epoxy on stable substrates like plywood up until
now. A client wants me to use it on a solid oak glue up. It would be
used on the top only and several coats of urethane on the bottom.
I am concerned with the epoxy and it's effect on natural wood movement
during the seasons. The manufacture says no problem if the wood is dry
to start with, however, I am still leery. What do you think? Thanks, JG

Since you asked what I think, and not for expert advice, here goes. I
think if you thoroughly seal the wood all the way around the entire
piece, you won't get any moisture in or out to create movement. Epoxy
would definitely create a thorough seal, as would "several coats of
urethane," I think. Just be sure you carefully seal all the sides too,
and you should be OK, especially if you start with dry wood.
Good luck,
Andy
