We used some melamine for the inside walls of a walk in closet. Now I
need to put rod hangers up and am wondering if need to manage the the
mounting of these in any special way because we use melamine.
The closet is divided into several sections each will receive a
hanging bar about 32 inches in length.
Any suggestions. Other than build some doors this is the last phase of
this project.
Thanks.

Coarse thread screws. Get the wooden rod mounts and make sure there
are at least three or four holes. Drill more if necessary. Pre-
drill with somewhat smaller holes than usual for the screw size and
use SPAX screws that have serrations on the lead threads.
What I did for my 100 lb slides on my melamine cabinets which seems to
be working out.

Moly bolts.

Do NOT over torque the screws in melamine. I would pre-drill and use a
VERY light setting to drive the screws. I might even finish up with a
manual screwdriver. Melamine is particle board and does not care for
too much pressure.

Use a drill with a clutch, experiment on any scrap of the melamine as
to where to set your clutch at. Battery charge does affect the amount
of torque so start with a fully charged battery. There are Hi Lo
screws ( two different diameter threads ) check McFeelys for melamine
screws.
