Finally - some decent pictures of my banks

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2223320060&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2223319973&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1

I didn't take the pictures, an eBay trading assistant did that, and
listed the banks for me. I think the pictures came out nice. I'm gonna
post a couple on my things I've made page. Almost makes me want to buy
a digital camera. Almost. LOL

I'm not asking anyone to bid on them, just to look at the purty
pichers. After all, you're woodworkers, right? You can make your own,
right? You don' need no steenkin' plans, right?

I need to finish up the cigar store Indian bank, too. That'll be
around 42"-44" tall. And, the Statue of Liberty, probably around 3'.
Then, if I could just get people to start buying the damn things, I'd be
all set.

JOAT-
I try to be exact when dealing with situations where truth in
advertising issues could come up. I mean, it's prolly not too big a
deal, but do those banks really hold "several gallons of coins"?

good luck with the ebay biz....

OK, I double-checked the numbers, and these two banks apparently
will actually hold just under two gallons of coins, each, I figure. I
used eyeball guesstimate before., and actually figured it would hold
going on three gallons. Future banks will have a larger coin chute
(change made a couple of weeks ago), so the bank, as a whole could wind
up holding well over two gallons of coins. Did that so the chute is
wide enough for paper money too. I could even enlarge it enough so the
bank as a whole could hold around four gallons, or more; but doubt I
will. In the interest of "truth in advertising", I changed my web page
to read, almost two gallons, and asked the trading assistant to change
the eBay pages too. I figure "almost" will cover me better than
"about", even if future models can hold more than two gallons.

I take it you won't be making any more of these banks, since they are
described as "rare"? :)

Ah, your're wrong there. I looked "rare" up, just to make sure,
before I ever used it. So, for as many banks as I will ever make,
"rare" will still be accurate. Good eBay buzz word.

From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) (web1913)
Rare \Rare\, a. [Compar. {Rarer}; superl. {Rarest}.] [F., fr. L. rarus
thin, rare.] 1. Not frequent; seldom met with or occurring; unusual; as,
a rare event.
Syn: Scarce; infrequent; unusual; uncommon; singular; extraordinary;
incomparable.
Usage: {Rare}, {Scarce}. We call a thing rare when but few examples,
specimens, or instances of it are ever to be met with; as, a rare plant.

Thanks. No, not me, everyone. They're a composite of everyone on
rec.woodworking. So, they look like the average person, here. I did
take a few liberties; the banks are wearing robes, instead of flannel,
and a Wizard hat, instead of a baseball cap. Kept the confused look.

Now, if someone stops you on the street, and says you look
familiar, you'll know why, they've seen the banks. Now the pictures are
on my Stuff I've Made page, so it's less of a hassel to look at them.
Just scroll down a bit.

One concern I would have is that in the "wizard" section of Ebay where
your merchadize is domiciled, there are very few items with any bids
on them, and none that I found with more than one bid. The ten items
under "going going gone" contained a grand total of one bid. Perhaps
there are better categories with more traffic that you can move your
merchandize to.

Not sure, but I would think it's ot the section they're in that
generates few bids, I'm thinking not too many people have an interest in
the things offered. If people are looking for something, I dont't think
it would matter what section it would be in.
However, I am open to suggestions.

But, I'm also thinking people may not care to buy something like
that on eBay. I know wooden boxes seem to go very poorly on eBay, and a
number of other thaings, that I know for a fact sell well at craft
shows, etc. So, I'm not counting on getting heaps of bids, no matter
where they're posted, I'm just looking on this as a learning experience. =

I'm looking into selling in my local area, consignment shops,
someone selling them at a flea market, etc. If I can find someone
trustworthy, or that will just buy them outright, and resell them, I
think I could do well enough. I think they will do much better that way
then selling on eBay.

There's just such a huge amount of stuff on ebay, it's pretty easy
for things to get overlooeked on their at times. Unless it is something
that a lot of people are interested in. I know of someone that mate
around $10,000 in a year, just selling off her old books. Apparently
books are a good selling item on eBay. Some things are, some things
aren't.

I'm looking at it as a learning experience, and am going to bail
when my fees get up around $20. I don't feel like paying for more of an
education then that.
