Close off that useless slot in the bottom, seal up the holes and the tilted
bottom shelf within the cabinet. Then cut a hole to match the dust collection
hose pickup.
My unisaw was almost as old. It will take a really big collector and large hose
to make a difference. I enlarged mine from 4" to 5", then went to a different
saw for other reasons. The pickup with a great cyclone is OK at best anyway.
Unisaws and their clones are not designed for good dust pickup; but for heavy
duty accurate cutting year after year.
Don't be afraid to cut a hole in the back: it's a tool after all.
