I know there's a whole bunch of VERY knowledgeable, certifiable software
geeks hiding out here on the wRECk, so thought I'd ask . . .
I have a CD about 9/11 which has about 40(+ or -) JPG files on it, plus an
EXE file, which sets up a slide show playing to "I'm proud to be an
American". Works wonderful on Windoze, BUT . . wanted to show it to our
class in school, and the whole shebang is MAC, and every time we try to open
it, tells us it can't locate the program that created the file.
Checking the "properties" on Windoze, under "Type of File" says
"Application", Description: Medi@Show Viewer Module, copyrighted from
Cyberlink.
Anyone have an idea how to convert or recreate this to run on MAC?

Quicktime might be the simplest. If you get stuck and the total data on
the CD isn't *huge* you can zip it all up and email or put it on the
web so I can download it.
I've got both a Windows box and a couple of Macs here and I can wrassle
it into something usable for you.

I'd be VERY surprised if iPhoto was not in there someplace but it may
not be on your app bar. Take a look on the hard drive (or network
drive) and do a search with the finder and it'll likely be there.
Of course I've had several Otter Creek lagers this evening so YMMV.

The similar (same but earlier?) application in OS 8 and OS 9 to iPhoto
for OS X was PhotoRelay which came within Toast Deluxe 4.1.1
A later version of the same programme called iView Multimedia came
within Roxio Toast Titanium 5.0.2, also for OS 8 and OS 9.
PhotoRelay (in TD 4.1.1) ---> iView Multimedia (in RTT 5.0.2) --->
iPhoto (in OS X)

Should be on the Mac someplace unless they went out of their way to not
put it on. There is no Windows version of iPhoto.

No worries. Double-click on the CD's icon on your desktop, a
finder window will pop up. Select everything but the .exe file,
and right-click to "open with" the "preview" app which should be the
default for the .jpg files anyway.
Or, open up quicktime, import the .jpg slides into it, import the .wav or
.mp3 or whatever is also on the CD, and make a slideshow that'll run on
any machine.
Or, open up iPhoto, select the .jpg files, import them into your iPhoto
database. Select "create slideshow" from either the menu or the main
iPhoto screen, and select said audio file on the CD as the background music.
You can set slide timing by seconds or to manual.
Worst case, just click on each of the .jpg files in the order you want to
see 'em, and Preview will open them up for ya.
