Minor log gloat

Scored an 8' long, 14" diameter walnut log with gnarly crotch wood at both
ends and no knots between. Fresh cut yesterday after the tree went dormant
for the winter.

I should be able to turn some nice bowls from the ends and saw out some
great boards from the rest.

Sounds great. Recently scored about 30' of cherry for turnings myself.
The butt log is a gnarly bugger, but I've already got a dozen pieces from
the second stick, with more still on the trailer.

I turned a bark-up bowl ~12" to about 1/4 to dry and finish in time for
Christmas for the provider of the log. Susan'll fill it with cookies prior
to delivery. That and a bottle of whatever ....
