OK, I'm trying no all caps subject. I'll might keep all caps for
plans I post, so sue me.
I was able to try out my finishing stand. It's here, if you want to
look. http://community-2.webtv.net/Jakofalltrades/FINISHINGSTAND/
I set it out, spun the top, and could see it wasn't quite level.
No prob. A couple of smacks with the heel of my hand, and close enough
to level.
Works great. I did one of my Wizard banks. I use furniture glides
on them, and drill pilot holes for the glides. I put finish on the
bottom first, then push the glides in the pilot holes - they lack about
3/8" from going all the way. Then stood it up on the glides, so the
bottom dries, and did the rest. I sit, turn the top, and finished the
bank one side at a time. Just like I wanted. Next bottom coat, I'll be
able to get it all, because of the gap at the glides. After the final
coat is on, and dry, I'll tap the glides all the way in.
Needs about three minor mods tho. I need a small shelf somewhere,
to hold the can of finish; no room on the top. I need a spot to rest
the brush on. Plus, I need a place to put the back on to dry, the part
that holds the money in. Small things, no prob to take care of.
It's nice to make something, and have it work just the way you want
it to. Not only that, I also wound up saving time on the finishing.

Probably fewer gotchas too, since you can get to all sides easily.
Are you going to paint it yellow?

That'd make it easier to find, but probably just wind up leaving it
nekkid.

I guess it will gradually get finished anyway, one drip at a time.
Roller skates huh? You sure seem to have a lot of those laying around.
Wasn't it you telling me to use a roller skate axle to do my own shop built
sharpening angle jig thingie?
Maybe I need to get some sleep.
