O'Malley power tools? Eh?

Was browsing a fellow wrecker's site this evening, and in the sidebar were
ads clearly targeted at woodworkers - one of them was this site:

http://www.omalleytools.com/

Appears, at first glance, to be a step up from HF and similar Chiwanistani
tools. Anyone bought anything from them?

I did. Got a circular saw, biscuit jointer and cordless drill. All
this about a year ago or so. After some light infrequent use the
circular saw started spitting sparks this last week. I dropped the
cordless drill and it broke into several pieces. Very minimal
construction to do that. There were weak plastic connectors that hold
the case together. Got it taped back together and it still worksI drop
my dewalt and makita pretty often and neither has broken. Without the
battery it weighs very little compared to my other cordless drills.
The drill chuck is very small and that makes it difficult to tighten.
And while it is reversable and variable speed, it has only the one
speed unlike my dewal which gives more torque. Also the battery losses
its charge very quickly if not used. Can't say much about the biscuit
jointer as I have rarely used it. It works is about all I can say at
this point. I too thought they were a step up from HF but wouldn't buy
anymore. Mainly I was just curious. In all fairness I have not
contacted them about any of the problems so I can't say what their
warranty or customer service is like.

I see that their tools are CSA Certified. I thought the CSA went out of
business at Appamattox.

Well, looky there! On the home page is a "Special of the Month", a 3
HP plunge router. That looks identical to the one I bought from
Princess Auto about a month ago. I haven't used it yet, as I am
waiting until I get a beefier AC circuit into the garage. It starts,
but takes a while to get moving (though perhaps this is the 'soft
start' in action).

I guess if you have to explain the joke, it isn't quite as funny.

CSA is Canadian Standards Association. They do in Canada roughly what
the NEC, National Electrical Code, does in the US. ie electrical
standards, etc.

And everyone knows that a joke has to be 100% accurate to be funny. The
funny part isn't so much the joke as John (apparently) didn't get the
attempt at humor.
