Gloat in progress

I Stopped by an estate sale this afternoon just before it closed and
picked up a few items:

Stanley 605 1/2, 40, 40 1/2 planes, Keen Kutter 3 corrugated plane,$10
each Bosch 1613 router $20, various Millers Falls and Stanley steel
sliding squares .50 each, 30+ issues of Fine Woodworking free, Amana
4 piece raised panel set $10, A huge chisel I found out is called a
timber slick $2 and some Stanley #30 6" t-square thing with moving
parts .25, I'll post a picture in ABPW for indentification help.

The sale had been going on for 2 days and I was the first woodworker to
show up. There is a whole table of planes left mostly Stanley 5's and
Craftsmen. There was an EC Emmerich smoother and Kunz Circular plane
that she wanted $50 each for, she thought they were antiques. Should I
have told her the 605 1/2 Bedrock is at least 60 years older than
either of them? I ran out of money but told her I'd be back the next
day when I had more time. The power tools were slim. A Vulcan shaper
remained and a few Craftsman routers. The woodshop drawers were still
full of auger bits and more of the monster timber slicks, sand paper,
generic bench chisels, router bits and other odds and ends.

I might try and get the Emmerich smoother for $40.

Maybe not the biggest gloat but not a bad hall, If only there had been
a Stanley #1.

She wasn't realy interested in the value she more or less just wanted
it gone. I might make an offer on the whole lot tomorrow.

YOU SUCK!

With the formalities out of the way, did you check the
chisels for any Everlasts? And those auger bits may be
hiding some spoon bits - real handy things to have if you
make spindle chairs. Those big slicks are also used by
boatbuilders.

With that assortment of woodworking tools, it's a pity
the owner wasn't around to tell you stories about the
tools and their uses.

Good gloat.
