Never measured them, but Menard's has "utility windows" back by the
millworks dept. that are pretty inexpensive, and come in an assortment
of sizes- I'd imagine any similar chain store would have something
like that.
Hi!
I have had real good luck in purchasing windows for work trailers [or
very low end mobile homes]. I found a distributor in Elyria, OH --- if
it is in your neck of the woods ---, but there must be many of them.
They sold me single pane windows in an aluminum frame: the lower window
moves up-and-down, and there is a bug screen. IIRC, my 18*24 were
around $ 30 each three years ago.
I have made two playhouses (one is a treehouse) and did not find a
better alternative. Easy to install, light, easy for little fingers to
operate. The only drawback is that this was real glass, not plexiglass,
but I mounted them high enough that this was not an issue. So far none
has been broken or damaged [one playhouse is 10 y.o and the other is 3
y.o].

[See if you can find some old samples at a window mfr. showroom. They make
these in small sizes to save on materials shipping and storage. Once the
model is obsolete, they'll toss 'em, even though they're brand-new.]

Basement windows? You'd have to mount them "sideways", but why not?

I agree with Leon - the window might leak. However, the OP said playhouse,
and I would guess that it is either inside in a playroom, or outside and
fairly weather-resistant.

They would probably leak water. Windows tend to be built to channel water.
