At 66 years of age, with his cat sleeping next to him, Sir Terry
Pratchett passed away today, stolen from the world by that evil bitch,
early onset Alzheimers.
I'd love to been able to eavesdrop on his final conversation with Death.
One of the greatest authors in the history of english literature is
gone. He will always be missed.

I couldn't name a favourite. I'd probably recommend "Guards! Guards!"
as a starting point. Or "Equal Rites"
Guards is the first of the Night Watch books, and Rites the first with
Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg, the witches.

Damm! If there's anyone I'd hoped would still be producing novels till I
died, it would be Terry. You're right, he'll always be missed. There
will never be another Terry Pratchett.

I don't think I've read anything by Pratchett. Recommend your favorite.

Yeah, I had to look him up...couldn't place from the name alone, either.

My favorite is "The Last Hero" - or "Small Gods" - or is it "Hogfather"?
Doesn't matter - while you'll enjoy any of them, you'll miss an awful lot
if you don't read them in some sort of sequence. Here a suggestion I
agree with:

And even then, you'll miss a few of the puns and references. Here's a
site that'll tell you what you missed:
