You're not going to believe this one. This last Monday I went to the
Home Depot on Kings Canyon looking for a couple of items. I needed a
space heater for a tent (Dyna Glo portable heater) and a Shop Vac.
Well I go and ask the only person I can see is not too busy. This guy
was an older Hispanic guy and I tried numerous times to explain about
looking for the space heater. He kept telling me to go to the BBQ
grill section. Of course, there is nothing there. Big Suprise...
Either I am not going to find it or they don't have it.
So on to the next item, A Shop Vac. Should be simple enough? Right ?
Wrong!!!! I ask the guy where all the models are for the Shop Vac.
Mind you that this is a different person and yes he happens to be a
Hispanic. So I need a specific Shop Vac, A wet vac. One that is
designed just for picking up wet material. Anyone that works there
should know what I am talking about. This guy is starting to give me a
death look. I asked him what was wrong and he left. I am like WTF is
his problem? This other person shows up and yes he happens to be of
Hispanic decent and this guy spoke really bad english. Really Bad!!!!
I asked him where I can find the wet vacs. He gets all upset and
starts sticking out his little chest on his 5 foot nothing frame. I am
6'5 so I am not to worry. I am like go get a manager. I am getting
pissed off dealing with this clown act. A manager comes over and asks
what the problem is. I pointed out the two Home Depot employees that
started getting stupid. He asked them to come over and explain what
the problem was. They automatically start speaking in spanish. The
manager tells me that I was rude and asks me to leave. I got really
pissed off that point and asked him WTF are you talking about. I told
him that all I asked for is where are the fucking WET VACS were. He
turns to the two employees and asks them if this is true. The manager
then looks at me and says sorry Sir. There has been a
misunderstanding. I am sitting there with a stupid look on my face as
to what the hell he is talking about. He explained to me that the two
Home Depot employees thought I was being racist and thought I was
asking for, GET THIS - WET BACKS!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't help but think
WTF!!!! I looked right at all 3 of them and shook my head. The manager
told the two guys to leave and said he would be right back. A few
minutes passed and the little crowd that had formed left and the
manager shows up and says, I apoligize here is a gift card for any
trouble that we may have caused you. It ended up being a $100 gift
card. So I end up finding my Shop VAC/ WET VAC and used my new gift
card to purchase and had to think, ONLY IN AMERICA!!!!!!

We gave up on the BORGS, they kept trying to sell us the ones that clamp on a
propane tank that you use on your patio..
A quick visit to Big 5 got us a tent safe heater that uses the small propane
bottles and has been working really well for us..

Hah! Too late!

The only reason I caught it though is that it is a retread of an old
story that wasn't true to begin with.

I am more careful than usual these days as I just got pulled all the
way in the boat on another newsgroup, which shall go unnamed.

Damn woodturners....

Actually - he sent you to the right department. Space heaters should be in
the Garden dept (same as Grills), or possibly in Electrical, but displayed
in the Garden aisle. Two different shelf locations, but typically in the
same aisle.
