I just finished and delivered a Murphy bed project to a customer.
Pictures at a.b.p.w.
The bed is not very exciting as the customer wanted a large flat surface
to hang material on while assembling quilts.
I do like the towers however and all the Arkansas walnut pulls. I used
the same design pulls as my, earlier last year, bedroom project that I
built for my wife and I. I used Cherry for those pulls.

Scratch that. Foot of the bed view. That's another cabinet in
another corner of the room. Still neat, though.
For a moment, I thought the bed door opened/swung to the left. I was
trying to figure out that pivot point.... LOL.

Well, I would think that it would indeed be important. Isn't that why
people post pictures? For others to see?

Equally good!
This just in from email:
I stopped by the Chevrolet Dealership yesterday, for a look at the new
Silverado 2011, 1500 pickup. Just for fun, I took it out for a test
drive. I wanted to sense that new "feel" before they become extinct...
The salesman (a black man wearing an Obama "change" lapel pin) sat in
the passenger seat describing the truck and all its "wonderful"
options.. The seats were of particular interest. He explained that the
seats directed warm air to your butt in the winter and directed cool
air to your butt in the summer heat. Feeling like messing with him, I
mentioned that this must be a Republican truck.
Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck.
I explained that if it were a Democrat truck, the seats would blow
smoke up your ass year-round.
I had to walk back to the dealership...Damn guy had no sense of humor.

Are you saying that quilts are not exciting?? Do you have ANY IDEA how much
trouble you can get into saying that around a quit person?? LOL

And just to add a bit more, before buying the kit I called and talked to
the company and asked if I could get a copy of the instructions so that
I could design and work up a bid. I wanted to sell the bed before
committing the $300. They were happy to e-mail me a PDF of the
instructions.

It is worth something that they will stand behind those gas shocks for

ahhh, Rich... tut tut, newbie.
Turn off "view images" in your browser config, where you are
"not interested in paying to see pictures".
You are "paying" at every click on a link.. dickhead.
Want to argue about it?
Go look at your browser cache, add up the bytes for all the
gifs, jpgs, pngs (etc) and factor that size (number) by your ISP
payment for X bytes of bandwidth per month.
Then post you are not "paying" :-/
>>
>> If people want others to see their work, especially customers, it

Larry..!..?.. persons directing "customers" to Usenet OR image
hosting sites are seriously sick puppies.
Customers are paying a margin to enable a business to be run.
That business rightly has to then supply a service which warrants
that margin.
Get a freaking website.. and keep another business in business!
Also, Larry..
Those looking to share an image, around discussion within
a news group, should always encourage a binary group to
carry their links (references) if for no other reason then
just plain old "good manners"

How very astute of you, Leon.
Entirely accurate observation, I say.
What the rest of the comments (thread)
supporting web based viewing are
saying is "put up any old image any old how".
Bad luck when a week, a month, or next year
a reader wants to see the photo referred to.
Stiff cheese when your browser will not load
the site/page/image - for any one of a dozen
reasons.
It is *your problem* your bandwidth is being
consumed by cookies, advertising and
various other bits of web trash.
Everyone's problem their data is being used
for demographics.
"Free" image hosting..?.. get a freaking grip!
If these are indeed "Free" why are there then
so many of the useless fucking things?
The world has gone mad in it's generosity??
Yes, as you point out Leon.. Usenet binary
certainly weeds out all of those supporters of keen
navel fluff collection. Voyeurs one and all, not
worth cracker!

Eric appears to say it is poor behavior

A rather interesting comment from someone

When I installed mine, I used a scrap of the baseboard to mark the
cutouts where the bed and cabinets went against the wall. Didn't want
to have to replace the baseboard if I ever move the Murphy bed, although
after wrestling the thing in from the gar^H^H^Hshop, if I move the bed
stays.

From any functioning newsgroup you can

This is simply how Usenet works.
On one of "FREE" sites the point (argued) would be
taken down, the image removed.
You thinking this alternative is a more attractive
process?

Why steal my material and then proceed to misuse it.
What evidence do _you_ have to state _I_ am a
dickhead?
Just as one rebuttal I am not the guy going around
with a sig which clearly states those not using Linux
are not thinkers. his reflects badly on the
"nix community" and is stereotypical of "Windows
lusers" who switch to (lame) interfaces as Kubuntu.
Go absorb the Windows V Linux argument if you
are really even remotely interested. The same theme
you tout is repeated in Google archives many
many times.. it is "Old", Rich.. very Old, and tiring :-]

I would bet that is very true as all *you* are into is
stating your opinion and no way hearing anything
which does rightly challenge that which you base
that "opinion" on.
You wont post binary, I will bet because you do
deny it is as skill you need to know to get what
*you* want. Too bad about how others struggle
to get a look in.
You wont accept you (and others) pay for *your*
laziness, avoiding the points made, in running off
at the mouth on looking to "crawl up the arse" of
those you see as "allies", and yet they are as
fucking clueless (dimwitted) as you are.
In all of it, Rich, you fail to understand that it is
exactly the aloof "fuck you it suits me" attitude
that allows arseholes like
GymmyBob/J.P. Bengi/ Josepi
a foothold in arguments between dickhead's who
have no clue on such off topic comments.
That farking dimwit is currently crippled as
Teranews.com has folded as a point of entry
to <r.w>.
He will find another, and you, and those like you,
will have learnt nothing from any of the exercises
to continue to allow him Voice.
Why? Because you are indeed a clueless dickhead
as opposed to being the annoying dickhead GB is.
Rich.. etal..

who do know, suffering the consequences in being
TOLD.

If some one is not willing to pay a couple of dollars a year to see
pictures that is fine with me. Chances are they are already paying way
more for internet service than for a news server service.
But seriously that actually filters out those that would not be
serious about buying anyway.

Agreed and IIRC it is stated to pay attention to the details and
measurements on the drawings. They some times differ from the video.
The video is more of a show and tell and visually answers questi9ns you
may have. The instructions are to be precicely adheared to.

Rich if the bed is like most any other fold down bed the top is going to
have to be securely attached to the wall. This keeps the whole thing
from coming down on top of you when you pull the bed down. So that you
can easily lift the bed back into the closed position there is a lot of
stored energy. When pulling the bed down that is quite a bit of force
pulling away from the wall at the top of the unit and probably an equal
amount pushing towards the wall at the bottom.
I strongly recomend that the bed not be pushed up against the baseboard.
It should fit as close and flat against the wall as possible. On my
installation for my customer I simply cut a notch at the back bottom of
the bed side columns to let the base board continue unobstructed in case
they wanted to relocate the bed and so thew would not not have to patch
the base board. This also gave me some left and right leeway with out
having to deal with the base board. The side cabinets simply push up
next to the bed assy. and up to the base board.

I paid Astraweb $10 in June of 2008 for 25GB of downloads, and I still have
more than 24 GB left to download. Good retention, and in the time I've had
Astraweb maybe 2 times that the servers weren't accessible fora few hours
each.

Come on, for $10 you can get 75 years of abpw. My 10-spot paid for 25 GB
in June of 2008. I still have 24 GB to go.

It's agood idea to look for sales and/or use a coupon for the hardware.
The instructions are indeed good, especially when you combine the printed

If thats your story then ok. I feel if your paying for internet service
anyway why not fully utilize it to "you're" benefit. When it comes to
accessing the Internet thats the only thing I want to pay for. My website
hosting is free, my off site hard drive storage is free, and theres many
sites that host pictures for free. Hell my Operating System is Free. I put
out enough money why not benefit from the few things that are FREE.

There are a gazillion *free* web based picture galleries out there that
I see no reason whatsoever to put them on a newsgroup.... *especially*
if people now have to pay for binary service. Antiquated.

Why pay *anything* when there are a ton of *free* galleries out there that
are MUCH better for the viewer and user?

That constitutes a PITA in your life? really?
BTW you have to sign in to newsgroups, too. But you probably have your
username and password already in your newsreader settings and it signs
in automatically..... which is the same thing *any* web browser worth
its salt does using the cookies the website stores in the browser's
preference file.

And that is what is important? How many see it?
Behaviour could get more to see it but that never seemed to be a concern,

Don't remember the last movie I saw. After thinking hard on the subject I
came up with Matrix Reloaded. How many years ago was that? Guess your right!

Lets see I make a simple request and I get called dickhead. Thats what I'd
expect from this newsgroup. No I don't want to argue with a dickhead, why?
This post in my opinion has gotten off topic, and I have no interest in
carrying it on any further.

Was wondering after looking at the pictures. I'm getting ready to put
together a pre-made Murphy Bed for a customer. I completely remodeled the
room its going into with high baseboard and custom cabinets for a 2 desktop
workstation area. Is it better to have the Murphy Bed sit up against the
wall without the baseboard installed? I haven't installed the baseboard on
that side yet and was thinking it better to have the baseboard installed up
to the cabinets on either side.
Thanks,
Rich

Thats what I thought. I'll install the bed and cabinets on either side
first, then install the baseboards ( 7" high ) on each side to complete. I
have an extra piece of baseboard already painted to fit the wall in case
they ever decide to relocate the bed or just remove it.

I have the hardware I just haven't built the bed yet. Once you look in the
box, the $300.00 price tag seems rather reasonable. The hardware package is
very complete and well made. The instructions are the best I have seen in a
long time.

Yabbut, it's one pic posted and then at least seventy five "Kudo"
posts praising it, even if the Pièce de Résistance is a flipping bird
house made of pineywood, or some silly bow saur. Crikey...

But most clients don't have newsgroup awareness or access. Free
picture posting sites are all over the internet and they're great.
Some folks post pics on their own websites, too, which is better.
http://www.google.com/search?q=free+picture+hosting
Some, like Google, make you use their proprietary programs (Picasa,
etc.) which can be a real PITA.
Others make you sign in, which is a PITA.
Flickr, ImageShack, and PhotoBucket are pretty cool.

Well first off the kit comes with a rather complex and detailed set of
plans for the bed. There is a separate set of plans for both a particle
board construction and plywood construct bed.
Then there is a separate set of plans for suggestions of how to add
other pieces to complement the bed and different molding suggestions for
the bed.
The there is a DVD that goes for about an hour with detailed
instructions also.
Then there are the hinges for the legs the HD pivot plates for the to
hing on, ball joint attachment plates for theboth sides of the bed and
the casing tower sides.
Nuts, bolts, and washers. Mattress retainer straps and bed swing stops.
Then to top it all off there is a 10 year warranty on the parts.
Installation is really easy with a helper and after you carry the thing
to the ropom it will be set up in. Manuvering it to the room is really
the hardest part. There is a strict order of assembly of the components
to prevent an accident/it toppling down top of you.
I would buy it again in a heart beat, the parts are average to high
quality and the instructions are spot on in detail.
The kit is also available so that it pivots down from one side rather
from the head end. This makes the unit shorter in height but longer in
width.
