My local Woodcraft store sells his stuff, and a guick search of Woodcraft's
site came up with:
"FAST TRACK Metal Miter Gauge Slot
A 42" extruded aluminum track with a special profile that can be
"adjusted" so your miter gauge movement is always snug and smooth. After
routing a 1" x 1/2" groove, insert channel and screw into place through the
pre-drilled countersunk holes. Tightening or loosening a screw causes the
sides of the track to "flex", actually increasing or decreasing the width of
the opening. This ability to make fine adjustments to the fit of the gauge

The track is great for holding jigs too. The Modern T-track is very
versatile and excepts the heads of bolts and things.

FWIW, unless you have a weird thing for miter gages, it's more trouble than
it's worth. You will have collars available, one would hope. Reference
your jigs to them and keep the rest of the table smooth.

Well, without intending to be argumentative, if you look at JOAT's posts
(generally) he uses all caps when he is posting plans or "inspiration". When
posting on other matters he mainly lowers the caps. This has been generally
accepted as it makes the plans easy to recognise and easy to filter for
those who prefer not to see them. You do have a point, though JOAT is
consistent and his practice has been generally accepted by the majority over
the years.

Actually I find the miter slot extremely useful - I use the Bench Dog
feather boards that lock in the miter slot - much better than trying to
clamp a featherboard to the table top. The slot does not cause any problems
and if it does you can always put a filler strip in it and secure it with a
piece of tape.
