Ping: Doug Miller - OT: Newsproxy

I did a Telnet to my newserver like you mentioned in another post.

Here is a list of overview.fmt:

I tried adding in Newsproxy with your filter

rec.woodworking drop Lines: 1

but it still filtered through.

What am I doing wrong? Am I at the limit on filters in Newsproxy?

Thanks

Bill

If all you did is to add that one line to my filter file, you will not be at
the limit. My file currently contains 85 filters, and the limit appears to be
100.

I haven't checked, but I'd be surprised if the posts you're trying to filter
actually contain only one line.

Please email copies of the headers of two or three of the posts that you're
trying to filter to the address given at the top of my filter file, or post
them as a followup to this message, and I'll have a look and get back to you.

That's not exactly what I meant; guess I should have been more clear. *Some*
of the obnoxious posts do have a "Lines: 1" header, but more than a few of
them do not.

Here is are a couple of the headers of what got through. First one is
from one's that are dated before May 16. And the second set of
header's were from yesterday and this morning.

I did try that. Still did not work.

There is some discussion going on in the giganews.general newsgroup
about some groups being spammed. Giganews support is working with some
ISP's to try to stop this. But they said the spammer in this group is
a little harder to pinpoint. As they are using multiple accounts and
servers.

No reason for this one to have been trapped by a filter that says Lines: 1

I don't understand why it didn't catch this one, though. I'll investigate a
bit further.

Is that a cut/paste from Trollfilter? If so, could it be that you need
to get rid of the space between the colon and the 1?

They contain this line in the header:

Lines: 1

They have several lines, but the header says 1.
