Saw an interesting statistic in Infoworld (computerworld article) that 90%
of all spam leads to only 2% of the world's ISP's. i.e., the spammed target
sites reside on only 2% (maybe 10%, I skimmed the article quickly last
week) of the internet's IP addresses. That means that the ability to
isolate and cut off those sites should be relatively easy. The spamming
sites and botnets may be spread across multiple regions, but if the
end-destinations of those spam and phishing spams can be cut off, it won't
do anybody any good to run the botnets.
