For those you have not heard yet...
In a world of pirates, crashing economies and political extremism, it a
great pleasure to see something unexpectantly good. This woman, with
learning disabilities, auditions at a talent competition and becomes an
immediate internet sensation.
Go to youtube and enter "susan boyle". And if your heart is not made of
stone, you will probably tear up.

She is phenomenal. I didn't catch the part about learning
disabilities - even more amazing!
----------------------------------
Yes, apparently there was some oxygen deprivation at birth. She has had a
hard life. She cared for her elderly mother for a long time till her death
two years ago. She entered the contest to fulfil her mother's wishes for
her.
She is not a pretty woman. She has the bushiest eyebrows I have ever seen
on a woman. But she is funny and has the voice of an angel.
I really don't know much about the music biz. But if they find the right
producer for her, they are going to produce an amazing album. One of the
most common remarks on the web is that people want to buy her CD. She could
make somebody (simon?) a lot of money.

One of the comments that many people made was about her sense of humor. It
was a refreshing change to that snickering crowd and judges before her
performance. I have never see such a large group of non believers change
their tune so fast and decisively than at this audition. Way to go Susan
Boyle!

Now this group is asking for verification in order to be able to
post..weird.
Susan Boyle. That was a surprise performance. Totally out of nowhere.
That wasn't some pity-driven applause, she earned that.
We, as Canadians should adopt her and make her a star. We did it for
Celine Dion, Rita McNeil, Neil Young, Paul Shaffer, Geddy Lee (Rush)
most of them had some oxygen issues at birth.
Susan Boyle, a diamond in the rough. The 'Industry' will probably eat
her alive and try to exploit her. I cannot imagine that this success
will be good for her.
Godspeed, Susan.

It may help to remember the the US has a two-class society: First Class
and No Class.
Even no class bums like myself can recognize that the lady has a first
class voice and displayed a first class attitude.

It is not unusual for also-rans to make out better than the winners.
That certainly seems to be the case with Canadian Idol.
The Carrie Underwoods and Kelly Clarksons are rare exceptions.... but
I have a feeling those two would have made it regardless.

What a fabulous voice. I rarely watch "Reality TV" shows, they tend to
be pretty much of a muchness and generally lack any real talent but I
did make the effort to watch this episode of Britain's Got Talent
after reading about her in one of our newpapers. I was very dismayed
and somewhat embarassed to be British after seeing the audience
reaction to her when she first came on stage. You could see them all
sniggering, turning to their next seat friends or whatever and making
what were obviously derogatory remarks, you don't have to hear it to
make out what they were saying. I have always detested these reactions
and have always strived to look more deeply at people. Guess it's not
only in Britain that this happens though. These kind of programmes
have a lot to answer for. They all changed their attitude the moment
she opened her mouth to sing.
What a talent and I hope she has a long and successful career. Doesn't
matter to me if Simon Cowell makes money out of her, I believe he will
do his very best for her and I believe she will now make it big time,
whether she wins the contest or not. I wouldn't bank on her winning
either, last year it was won by a teenage street dancer who did little
more than shake his body furiously, in a not particularly co-ordinated
manner either. Don't think anyone can remember his name. This year
there is also a group of young dancers who could well get the prize. I
would not be surprised if they walk away with it, then slide into
obscurity.
It seems that the US has really cottoned on to Susan Boyle, for which
I thank them, as this will certainly ensure her future, come what may.
Well done. It won't take much to improve her appearance but I feel she
will make it anyway as there are a lot of folk out there who
appreciate genuine talent.

I'd have to say Andre Bocelli could give her a run for the money. Although
she was great. Like to hear more though.
