Need strap hinges

I need help finding a good source for strap hinges. I've scoured the
local hareware stores and Internet sites but haven't found what I need.

I'm looking for iron strap hinges that can be mounted (as center
mounts) on pintles to brick columns. I need pintles that are mounted
to metal plates that can be anchored against the column. Most of the
strap hinges I've seen have either flush mount, screw-in or drive-in
pintles. I've found some ironworker folks who can make what I need,
but at a steep price.

Anybody know where I can find these types of hinges/pintles?

I have no idea what a pintel is so I'm not sure what you are looking
for. Vandykes has some groovy looking repro type strap hinges. Here are
a few examples. Do these have pintels? I know my pintel is a bit long
but please don't step on it.

Thought pintles were widely known. My bad! Partly explains why I'm
having such trouble finding them.

Here's a pic of pintles:

one I need is similar to #HF-38 in this pic...only larger. I need a
7-8" mounting plate with larger holes to accomodate 3/8 anchor bolts.

They are, but only on trailers.

Google for "lift-off hinges" or "separating hinges", or "gate hinges",
88. Can't those be drilled out? It's only iron; cuts like cheese.

P.S: Don't try using a brad point to drill 'em, though.

Not suggesting these as a solution to the OP's problem but here's some
pictures of pintles and their matching parts, gudgeons.

Try googling "pintle gudgeon" (without the quotes). You'll find them as
marine supplies so either aluminum or stainless for the most part, but you
should find something that will do the job for you.

If I understand you correctly you're looking for something like the stuff
about halfway down <http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d3000/e727.asp> only in iron
instead of aluminum.
