Gloat of the first order!

While looking at Craigslist over my morning cup I spotted an ad. for
1000bf of walnut. I called the guy. It turns out he is willing to let
the lot go for 600.00. Off I go with my trailer to inspect it. It
looks great 6 to 8 foot boards 4/4 4/8 . I ask about the price and he
tells me he is moving and he starts to add things. 300bf of 4/8 alder,
3 sheets 3/4 baltic,2 sheets 1/2 baltic,1 sheet 3/4ply, a set of alder
doors to a entertainment center. He tells me he just wants to see it
go to someone who will use it.
That would be me!

Ed

My wife has all kinds of ideas, I just finished explaining why I would
need a 8 inch jointer to make her a fine walnut hutch. Now I just need
to find a deal on one.
Until then how does a new bench with the base made out walnut sound.

I hope, when you stack it. That the wall studs cave in, land on your
car, crush the entertainment center that was 2 days away from delivery
and you stub your toe packing it in!

You suck!

Better deal than the one I looked at a while back! I found an ad for some
oak and walnut boards some gent was selling, asking $300. Went over and
looked it all over, he wandered off so I had time to measure it all up. I
figure it was worth $150 retail at the local borg. When I tell him he wants
too much he says he has another pile of lumber in the garage that goes with
it, so I check that over! Oh goody pineywood twoburfours, and a couple of
2X6'ers too! I was doing a remodel at the time so I could sue them. It
brought the retail value of the deal close to his asking price. I offered
him a $100, but he said he had a guy coming the next day that was gonna buy
it all! I left him my phone number, but he never called back. Pulled in some
sucker no doubt!
I wondered why he did not show me all the wood right away! I think he was
trying to sucker me in!

"you suck" doesn't even begin to cover this one. I wonder if it was his

I mean, "you suck" is good for "gee, I wish I had stumbled into that and
had had the cash". This is more of a "I'd sell what I had to to get
that deal" kind of deal, which may in fact go beyond the standard "you
suck".

BBW
Years ago I learned how bad I am at computing bf. I took a 6ft by 6in
1in board and put it to bf. When I'm out in the yard looking for wood
I can come pretty close to bf.
This guy had plenty of money and I think he just wanted his garage
empty. Out here in Az there are plenty of folks who think old wood
should be sold as antique wood and commands a premium. Same with
their rusted craftman routers and saws

He is an ER Doctor and he was offered a 2 year position in NY City. He
said he had to leave immediately and had no time to sell it. We
started talking, I'm Marine and he has a son in Iraq. He gave me all
his wood, I tried to swing a deal for his jointer, he laughed and said
his shop was going in storage, he plans on setting up shop again.
