Hi,
I spilt a red hot cuppa over my shop bought, solid pine bedside
cabinet. I've now got a faint matt white water mark about the size of a
saucer on it. Any ideas how I can easily get the colour & shine back. I read
somewhere that butter and fag ash work!
It's finished in clear satin lacquer/varnish.
Thanks
Good tips matey's :0) cough, cough, cough.........

Lessee, very fine abrasive and some oil to make things (temporarily) shine.
Pretty standard approach. Of course you don't have to fire up the stogie.
Little bit of oil (or wax) and a brisk rub with a brown paper bag oughta do
it.

To us old geezers, fags were cigarettes, fag ask, cigarette ashes.

I have read (and used) vegetable oil with cigar or cigarette ash mixed into
a thin paste. The ash provides a very fine abrasive. It has worked well
for the 3 or 4 times I have tried it. Not sure what "fag ash" is and I'm
not sure I want to go there! :).
Good luck!.
