Consisdeing hew assaulted 4 marines, I figured he got off lightly.

Boy that one has really done the rounds. Last time I heard it was two months
ago and it was the australian SAS. You have to ask why someone should go to
the trouble of faking up an image of newsprint, why the bad guy had to be
renamed 'Tyrone' and why people should be so keen to believe it. It makes no
sense to me.

If you can document them being unreliable, let's hear it.

Dang, that's too bad, it was a good story. I've seen it happen twice in
real life. In one case a cop told myself and two friends he hoped we'd got
in some good smacks on some of vandals who took off before the cops got
there (with some bruises for their trouble). In another case the friend of
a friend got a hint from a cop that a burglar with a broken arm had fallen
while trying to run away, so he went with that story.
Sometimes the law and justice aren't exactly the same thing.

Hey, consider the audience. I'm getting on in years and my memory isn't so
good anymore. Give me a month or two and someone can repost the story again
and I'll enjoy reading it again. Give me another five years and the story
can be reposted every second day. :)
Now does it make sense?

Most of the complaints about Snopes' unreliability generally
stem from their failure to cover the complainer's own pet
peeve, rather than any actual inaccuracies in their coverage.

I just had holy crap moment I googled "Steve Barker Snopes" and read
basiclly the same post as above from a thread in 2007 about the car with all
the lumber on it and guess what I also posted in that thread and brought up
snopes then also.

Yup. Gotta watch out for those high sidewalk curbs.
