Microsoft is offering to signup folks to their newsgroup.
Needless to say, their newsgroup server carry none of the rec or alt groups.
Just like Microsoft. Start newsgroups that carry none of what the rest of
the world uses.
It doesn't sound like a good idea anyway. Bill Gates could end up peering
through my bedroom window.

I gave up on the big ISP's for Usenet a few years ago when it was apparent
they had not retained the technological expertise to run an nntp server,
unless it came preconfigured from a buyout; and forget MSFT ... there's way
too many more trolls and zealots there any way ("Frank" and "Alias" in the
vista.general group are prime examples of that ... and you think this group
is bad!).
One option is get a Giganews account for a $7.99/month and enjoy trouble
free Usenet again. You'll be glad you did if you like the wrec and abpw ...
well worth the cover charge, IMO.
