The other guys have their hands full what with olive oil, cheese,
etc., so they asked the Jews to help them stimulate some business by
reminding customers of several cheese products, and possibly pizza.
What came to mind was, "Say cheese," and the rest (the camera stores)
is history!
Now I need help! Where does the 'woodworking' fit in here?

I think it is because of the close family upbringing which instills
education in its children. They go on to become well educated
professional. This is true of Not only Jews but Greeks Middle
Easterners, and the orientals. This is not a racist statement, it is a
sociological fact. People like to stay with those whom they are familiar.

I heard about one that lived a couple thousand years ago. Jesus, I
can't remember his name right now....
[email protected] (Darius Alexander) wrote in message news:<[email protected]>...
> Why is there such a visible union of the above types?
Actually, there are a higher than average percentage of Jewish
dentists and medical doctors in North America than there are, say,
white protestants. As far as photographers and carpenters, I do not
think this is the case.
I swore to myself I wouldn't get seriously involved in this dopiness. But
the copied post is a dumb reply to a dumb post! Which really only proves
that neither party has any idea of what Christianity is all about.
Christianity IS a monotheistic religion. This is a universal given for
every Christian sect I have ever heard of. If there are sects that question
this, I personally would have a hard time acknowledging their "Christianess"
(although not their right to worship as they see fit). The Trinity is
considered 3 different manifestations of the same God. This God is the God
of Abraham which the same God that Jews worship. (God manifested himself to
Moses as a burning bush, no one seriously thinks Judaism has two Gods, The
Father and The Shrub) I'll just call him/Her/It, God, and because I'm most
comfortable with the masculine gender assignment, I will continue to refer
to God as HIM; though I freely acknowledge that God transcends race and
gender.
Most Christians believe, well, most of the one I know, that the Gospel of
Jesus does not invalidate the Covenant God has made with the Ancient
Israelites. Nowhere does Jesus say the covenant has been put aside, merely
expanded. To me, this means their modern spiritual heirs, modern Jews, who
adhere to that ancient contract have a reasonable expectation that God
should adhere to His side of the bargain. Although I don't know what they
could do if God DID break the contract! But then again a God that breaks
promises isn't much of a God, so I don't think that is much of an issue.
Obviously, the Anti-Semitic crapola in this rec.photo.digital newsgroup is
motivated more by the adolescent need to piss people off than it is a
statement of belief. However it does tap into some deep seated darkness
within our souls. I would ask those who might find pleasure in that
darkness, to consider this:
If you believe that Christianity is an expansion of the original covenant,
isn't your anti-semitism a repudiation of one of your own religion's basic
tenants? Aren't you practicing a curious form of self loathing? Aren't you
rejecting something that is a part of you?
Even though, I use JunkMonkey to keep down spam, I think I'll give my birth
name in this case.

The same way dentistry fits in here. Please, please stop it Joel. It is
becoming pretty iffy that you will remain on my Christmas card list this

The last two good Jewish carpenters were Joseph and his son Jesus.
With apologies to "The Carpenters" singing group and perhaps "Karen

Maybe, but I'm not certain if Jesus admonished us not "to cast our
pearly-whites before swine."

Your hope is forlorn, my dear Aribert--this is rec.photo.digital. But at
least we talk about stuff you can sink your teeth into!

This guy is obviously not worth responding to. But at earlier stages
in our history, because antisemitism blocked Jews from many professions,
they naturally gravitated towards professions where there was less
discrimination. Dentristy at one time was definitely such a
profession. I've had ten or more dentists where I currently live,
which includes a fairly substantial Jewish population, and only two of
them were Jewish. That suggests that where I live at least, Jews are
about as prevalent today as they are in the general population.

Reverend, you get what you pay for in this life. Here's a quote from the
bible that I like to repeat whenever some poor benighted fool tries to
convince me that the jew has been hard done by:
"Then cried all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our
children." - Luke 23:20-23 & Mathew 27:25

Why should the world be in danger of World War III because of those people?

Reverend, might I suggest that you rise above such base insults spouted by
the jew and do not let yourself be drawn down to their level. The jew was
just using bravado to cover up the guilt all jews should feel every moment
of their lives (well they would feel if they actually had a conscience but I
won't go into that).
"Then cried all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our
children." - Luke 23:20-23 & Mathew 27:25
As long as there are decent people in the world, those words will come back
to haunt the jew wherever it resides.

Carabelli has not been following this thread closely ......... here
below is one comment that brings the thread back to what was being
discussed ...........
The thread references as to why so many persons of the Jewish faith
are dentists and why so many persons of the Jewish faith are also
involved in the photography industry.
While that doesn't specifically address how many spills of mercury are
contained in a MOD restoration on tooth 18, neither does 64% of the
other usenet posts that I am free to read or to skip as I see fit.
It could be generally of interest to see how various minority groups
influence thinking within various professions, various business
opportunities and various hobbies. The only problem still is Mark
Tarka's most valid question:
"What's this got to do with woodworking?"

Perhaps there was a shortage of Jewish carpenters and other skilled workmen
because they were all slaughtered during the holocaust.
YAD VASHEM STUDIES
XVI
Edited by Aharon Weiss
YAD VASHEM
MARTYR'S AND HEROES' REMEMBRANCE AUTHORITY
JERUSALEM 1984
"Operation Reinhard":
Extermination Camps of Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka
"The first Jews
brought to the camps were those from the vicinity. They were used
for construction work and also performed various services for the
German camp personnel. They were generally skilled workers or
craftsmen such as carpenters, blacksmiths, tailors, and shoemakers.
As soon as the construction phase was completed, most of them were
killed in trial gassings.
When the organized mass gassings began, the camp administration
needed more and more workers from amongst the death transports. A
few, especially skilled workers, were employed in the extermination
camps according to the specific directives of the German and
Ukrainian camp leaders. Others had to work in the gas chambers,
removing and incinerating the corpses, and also sorting the clothes
and baggage of the victims. In the initial period, in particular,
they were kept alive for only a few days or weeks before being killed
and replaced by Jews from newly arrived transports. In each of the
camps the Jewish labor force consisted of 600 to 1,000 prisoners. At
a later stage Jewish prisoners became part of the permanent staff of
the camp. While members of the German or Ukrainian camp personnel
were occasionally transferred to other camps, once Jewish prisoners
had entered a camp they never left it again."
And now for some good news: The Israeli Furniture Industry which employs
thousands of Jewish Israelis continues to grow steadily.
Some numbers:
The Israeli Furniture Industry, embracing about 2,100 enterprises and 11,000
employees, can be divided into five main sections:
Very small enterprises, employing up to 10 people, including workshops
supplying the surroundings region, small shops for repair and maintenance
works and independent carpenters who have not established their own
workshop. This section consists of about 1,950 enterprises with a total
yearly sales turnover of about $ 300 million per year.
Small enterprises, numbering about 117 housed specialized in a restricted
line of products, usually acting as subcontractors working only on behalf of
other furniture markers. These enterprises employ up to 30 people each and
their sales turnover reaches about $175 million per year.
Medium-sized enterprises, employing 30 to 75 people, usually specialized in
more than one line of products and equipped with technologies of diverse
levels. Some of these enterprises engage in small-scale marketing activity.
The sales turnover of the 45 enterprises in this section is about $130
million yearly.
Big enterprises - about 15 of them - with 75 to 150 employees on the
payroll, supplying selective market niches with several interrelated lines
of products. These enterprises are well equipped with automatic,
computer-controlled machinery, employ modern management systems and sustain
extensive marketing activity. The sales turnover of this section adds up to
about $120 million.
The big groups of corporations, with more than 150 employees, supplying

Indeed the indignation of one single individual is enough to start a
revolution of peace or a holocaust.
How much have we learned the lessons of the holocaust - I wonder. We
document history, study it, turn it into compelling epics for Hollywood -
yet have we taken to heart, soul, mind and psyche the lessons of humanity's
suffering, the destruction, the grief and trauma suffered by the
generations?
The way to peace and reconciliation is through the heart. The way to make
amends is to bless Israel - whatever it takes. Words, visits, money. All
roads lead to Jerusalem.

That was one of the saddest epochs in Western Civilization. As one who is
of Ukrainian ancestry, I am apalled that my people collaborated in these
atrocities.
My religious upbringing never taught us hatred for anyone, much less that it
was justified to kill them. I can't understand what motivated Ukrainians to
participate in the extermination of millions--unless they were afraid of
being killed themselves, if they did not participate.
It is hard to believe that a stupid paperhanger could have so turned the
morals of much of Europe inside out. The Jews have done well to keep the
memory alive--because no one would believe this, if they read it for the
first time in a dusty history book.
The really mysterious aspect of this is that the hatred, and killings, go on
today . . . but that is another subject.
