I know there are several people out here that are intelligent and have
morals. However even with all the filters in the world this low life gets
by and it takes a long time to manually delete his crap. So not that I will
be missed from this newsgroup but I am leaving what I thought was a place of
intelligent people and will just buy books and read articles.. Hell I can
change a page to get rid of an ad that way.... Don't have to worry about the
jerk imbedding a virus in print either. Good luck to you all that stay. I
have learned allot and thank the good people for their help and guidance
since I have been coming here. One day someone will figure out who it is
that is doing this and they will get what they deserve. I would say more
but then I would lower myself to his/her level.

It's not our fault that you lack skills or staying power. I saw a few of the
crap messages yesterday but there was no need to manually delete them. When I
exit any newsgroup, my view setting precludes me from seeing the same messages
again. I don't have to delete a damned thing.
My thought was to just ignore the group yesterday until the miscreant gets
bored. He will; it never takes very long... particularly if you ignore him. He
had no impact on me, frankly. His best efforts are insignificant and wasted on
me.
So leave if you want. I'm not sure that I'd have noticed if I hadn't seen this
message today.

Good bye cruel world....blah, blah, blah..... You know you're willing
to take the time to type this drivel, but not willing to delete a
couple of posts...please....
I'm sure you've noticed in the umpteen years you've been on here that
the folks don't really warm up to snivelers either... We're all
disgusted with trolls and spammers... Unfortunately it's the way of the
net and email... It's just one of those things...

Ugg.. Posts like these just make the troll laugh out loud and encourage
him to spam even more. If you're fed up and want to leave, don't tell
the troll and let him have the pleasure.

Get an account with supernews.com
I'm not seeing any of it, as they're filtering at source.
The person doing this is well-known, and Supernews has his number.

If it's any consolation, idiots like the one that just hit this newsgroup
tend to hang around for a little while depending on the responses they get,
then they move on. It's the natural conclusion to not having a meaningful
life ~ see what kind of trouble they can cause, get bored and go looking for
entertainment somewhere else.
Don't let anyone disgust you into leaving because it means they win and you
lose.

Agreed. Every time I see one of these "I'm leaving because I can't suffer
all of this stuff" posts,, the first thing that pops into my mind is more
about the leaving poster than it is about the offending troll. Somebody is
just looking for recognition of his purity and the only way he can get that
is by advertising it himself.

An alternative: since these attacks tend to run in a continuous string,
highlight the first one, page down to the last one while leaving the first
one highlighted and press the Shift key down and then highlight the last
one. At that point everything in between will be highlighted and you can
delete them en masse. It's true that if one or two responds are in the
middle of the sleeze they will be deleted as well.
No need to manually delete at all. If you use Outlook express (and I am
sure there are other news capable programs that also have this), you need to
set up filters or rules. Then, although tedious at first, all you have to
do is come up with a list of words that appear in unwanted postings (subject
or in the body). Then these posts can be highlighted in another color, or
deleted, or moved into a temp. folder for later review. Either way, there
is really no need to go through hundreds of crap posts once set up properly.

As with life in general, ignoring idiots is part of the newsgroup
experience. If you avoid every NG that has the occasional (or even
frequent, on some groups) a-hole piping up you're going to have about 6
heavily moderated groups to choose from. Don't let the bastards win, I

Getting viruses from a non-binary NG post is not really an issue.
Dan
Hey Allen I know it is pain when you get these kind of dweebs. But that
is part of the online experience whether in newsgroups or forums. I
think you should stay and keep contributing. Use filters, tools whatever
to cut down the noise level. Some day this low life will get his.
Twenty plus years ago there was somebody cross posting junk to almost
all of the newsgroups. A core of internet techies around the tracked him
down. They had some 'associates' have a 'face to face' with the idiot.
Gee, he never spammed the newsgroups again. So, one day this low life
will be tracked down and dealt with.
and there are the butt heads of the world like you and talk about drivel....
Maybe Allen is not a techie, does not know how to do filtering, etc. You
might have offered advice like others did on how to go about configuring
filters to automatically delete the spam, etc.
Oh, well, we have to put up with YOUR TYPE too. IMO, just as bad as the
spammers.

I don't get it. I use an old version of Free Agent for a reader. It
doesn't filter or kill anything. Being of reasonable intelligence I
can scan the message headers, see the topic and the name of the poster
and decide for myself whether to read a message or not.
After participating in a group for a while, I can figure out who has
something worthwhile to say and who doesn't. Same with following a
thread. When it drifts to the point I'm uninterested, I quit reading
it.
Since the messages are ascii I am unworried about "downloading a
virus".
How hard is this?

He won, the rest of us lost. The fact that you acknowledge this brings a
smile to his face and encourages him even more. Maybe it is best that you,
of little character, leaves.
If anyone would be so knowledgeable of those of little character, it would
be you that's for sure. In fact they'd make you King!
The only people who really use this group are the self promoting gloaters,
the self back patters and the morons that hype and hope to sell their crap
and people like you who type just to see themselves type!
It isn't the spam that has harmed this group it's the smart ass worthless
shitheads who offer nothing of value.....just like you! When people do ask
questions it's unimaginable how many morons will throw in their two cents
and moronic feed back. Look at yourself EDWIN.... What of value have you

You made yourself King (by default) and declared Allen of lesser value and
