Interesting email I received today

These two sentences tell you a lot about our government and our culture.

First consider this:

We are advised to not judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics,
but we are encouraged to judge ALL Gun Owners by the actions of a few
lunatics. Funny how that works.

And here is another one worth considering:

Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of
money. How come we never hear about Welfare running out of money? What's
interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second
didn't.

Let me add to that. We can no longer profile, a direct result
crime/terrorism goes up.

More gun controls than ever, now there are mass stabbings.

Give'em a trophy

Darn right wingers thinking that we should be fiscally responsible for
our selves vs. depending on the government to nurse maid us.

Particularly true of the religion of liberalism.

It should never have been created, for many of the same reasons that
Obamacare should never have been created. You're correct.

And yet right-wingers have been trying to kill SS since it was first
created.

Hell - politicians on both sides have been trying to kill it ever since they
realized they could steal money from it.

There is nothing in the Constitution that allowed the creation of the
Social Security INSURANCE system. Over the years the Insurance part has
been removed by the politician and the courts. Sounds like the
Obamacare INSURANCE. Since it is unconstitutional, it should never have
been passed. With Obamacare it only became law because the Court ruled
it was a TAX.

HOWEVER after millions of people have been forced to pay into this
Insurance system for over 80 years, people have been forced to become
dependent on the system. Forced because the money that they could have
saved has been taken by the government, and used for pork projects and
other social welfare projects.

Over the last 50 years I have paid a couple of hundred thousand dollars
into the Social Security INSURANCE which based on the average gain in
the stock market over the same period would be worth over a million
dollars today. I could live on a Million dollars properly invested.
Since the government took this money illegally, I feel it is my right
for the government to return this money to me as a Social Security check.

Social Welfare programs always fail and do not produce the intended
results. Look at the War on Poverty. There area more people in poverty
today than when the program started. There are less jobs today than
there were five years ago. The only things these programs do is produce
a growing population that is dependent on the government and who have
never paid significant taxes into the system.

No, you haven't. Not over 50 years. There's a cap on how much of your
income gets taxed for SS.

And just as likely you'd be penniless - there's plenty of stock-market
based pension funds that are bankrupt. And if you actually had been
paying $200K in SS, then you're rich enough that you don't actually need
SS (but you'll get it anyway.)

Taxes are legal. Deal with it, and cut the bullshit.

Is rec.woodworking an appropriate forum? I think not. A political forum
would be better.

You forgot to add racist, greedy, lying, unethical... umm, I always
get my right confused with my "other" right. Never mind.
