They have improved tattoo ink vastly over the last 30 years.

Hell. Mine has faded to a medium darkish blue. Started out a darkish blue
nearly 40 years ago. But by today's standard's, it's tiny and nearly invisible.

I have 15 year old art on my shoulder. It depicts Bugs Bunny sitting
in the Looney Tunes rings, where he's usually saying "That's all
Folks!". The rings are about 3" across. The main colors are reds,
yellows, and gray. It still looks as good as when I got it, and I
still love it! <G> The artist really did a nice job on it.
Maybe inks have changed? I wonder if it's due to the lack of green,
blue, or black in mine?

What about the grandkid going to a vintage porn site and seeing grandmama
getting gang banged?
Don't blame it on the media, whatever that's come to mean. The 'media' can only
sell what people buy.
Do you really think the politicians would have continued feeding the media
frenzy over cum on a big girls dress if America wasn't buying it?
The 'media' sells us what we want. That's an inarguable point.

Not that I have one, but the process used to involve separate sessions for
some inks and patterns. Imagine the one-session advertisement is for "the
children" to get their parent-spiting tattoos on impulse.

I think a great invention would be tattoo ink which automatically
fades after a period of time. I bet a lot more people would get
tattoos.
Or what about ink which reacts with a certain chemical so you could
take a pill to make the tat show or hide for a period of time? You
could get the "nearly permanent tattoo" which disappears for 24 hours
when you take a pill (for those wedding photos!), or a "nearly
invisible tattoo" which only *appears* for 24 hours when you take a
pill, for those weekend hog rides!

That and the tongue splitting that is coming into vogue. I'd guess
the next thing is head removal, after all, no vital organs on that bunch
would be harmed.

Actually, there is a 'photographic' process where a solution is applied to skin,
a negative placed over the solution and then exposed to light. After an
appropriate amount of time (up to several hours of sunlight) the negative is
removed and a fixer applied.
It's only skin deep so as the skin wears off the ... Print?? ... fades. IIRC
fading takes several weeks.
BTW, this process would work on wood.
I have considered this form of skin art.
I've been thinking of a tattoo for about a quarter century, way before they
became trendy. In the beginning I couldn't find or think of anything that
properly defined 'me', then I realized I never would because I was growing and
changing. Why would I want something that defined 'Me' at 25 to continue
defining me until my grave? If every time I grew and changed I got another tat I
would have ran out of skin long ago.
If I had gone to the Marines instead of the Air Force it would have been easy.
Though I'm no longer an Airman had I been a Marine I would still be a Marine.
The U.S.M.C. tat would have popped the skin art cherry.

Bah! Amateurs!
2000 and 2001 are the years of the Light Blue Shirt (LBS).
2002 is DBS.
2003 is DRS.

Thanks MJ, that explains it. You know what though, thats kind of silly in
this day and age do you think? DIY should have a look at American Chopper
over at Discovery channel if they think a hosts' tats would be a problem!

Don't be dissing Paul Sr, Paulie, Vinnie, and Michael now (well go ahead, on
Michael) ... I am not a metal worker, or even have much interest in it, but
that show is one of the best "shop" programs on TV. The fabricating that
they do is impressive .. not to mention some of that big old iron is
righteous.
IMO, except for Wood Works, beats the hell outta anything on DIY
The "Milwaukee Iron" show may even have been better ... but I only caught it
once during a marathon.

considering what and where some of these currently fashionable tats
are, I don't think the grandkids will be seeing them....

Geez. He's got one. Fair sized, but that's all that shows with a short
sleeve shirt. I don't know if he has any on shoulders, or anywhere else for
that matter.
Cheers,
Eric
I asked about that, since I live around the corner from one of Tattoo
Charlie's fine establishments. A boy that lived a couple doors down worked
there, I didn't go to the place to asked. He said it was a marketing thing.
It gets peoples attention. And, obviously, it does.

If you don't let go of that thing (and soon!) it'll go
from PURPLE to black and fall off. DAMHIKT

I think it has somthing to do with DIY network not wanting a guy who's
walking tattoo parlor to show them on TV.

They have improved tattoo ink vastly over the last 30 years.
How is improved? Different composition? The one I got twenty-four years ago
has also turned mostly purple. Guess we'll have to wait another thirty years
for the current release of tattoo ink to see if it changes colour or fades.
I don't know what they have done to change it only that my artist =
told me they had . I do know my oldest tat's are turning bark =
blue/purple where my ones I got 15/20 years ago are still black.

I believe its the tattoos.

and it turned colors or something? heh heh..........
