With apologies to Thayer....
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Texas =97 mighty Rangers have struck out.
The Red Birds deserved it. They fought for it hard for the last two
months, stayed on task, and end the end had what it takes to be the
Champions.
Good for them. Until this last game, this was one helluva series.

Agreed. This has been the best post-season baseball in a long time.

I am exhausted. That game had everything a baseball fan wants. Great
plays, bonehead plays, excellent coaching, bad coaching, and tension
galore. A Cinderella story of a team that got there by hard work and
good management, and a hometown kid done good (Freese).
And most importantly on *this* night, they were matched perfectly.
Sigh... and I have to get up in three hours to drive across town to
start a roof tear off/replacement. Still, IT WAS WORTH IT!
