My google skills are failing me today. I=92m looking for a simple low
profile latch for a plywood box I made and can=92t find one.
The ideal latch would be like the one on this toolbox:
http://www.blueflint.com/Toolbox.jpg
But I could also go for one like shown on this box (watch wrap):

Any other suggestions for a low profile latch to keep a hinged lid
closed on a very rough box used to store an aluminum straightedge
would be appreciated.

Thanks all, now that I know it is a "drawbolt" or draw catch I can
find what I need.

I know the feeling. Knowing the proper name for something does make those
searches much more productive.

I was at my local Lowes this AM. They had four draw catches, three
sizes in brass and one chrome.

The last time I bought one similar it was from Home Depot.

For those type items, I find it cheaper to watch "junk day" trash
piles or even go to the thrift store and buy some cheap and
cheesy. Remove the hardware and use. Stereo cabinets have great
lid supports, piano hinges.

McMaster Carr has these Draw Latch options

I know you already got an answer but I love sharing my favorite HW
supplier. This is NOT top quality stuff. Rather, near or at wholesale
pricing for commerical to low grade stuff. A great resource for small
mfg's. I haven't used them in a while but it used to be free shipping
for orders over $50. They have two draw catches under the "Catches and
Latches section. One for $1.15.
I have found stuff here for 1/3 or less the cost of the same exact
item at Woodcraft or Rockler or even Home Depot. Really great people
too.

Tried that at Home Depot. Couldn't find it and the guy in the
hardware department had no idea what I was talking about even after I
showed him one on a toolbox.
I should've gone to Ace but they are few & far near me.
No matter I ordered two from Rockler for $4.49 and free shipping.
I'll probably have them by Sturday.

You don't need Google; go to the hardware store - or hardware department of
a big box outlet. They've got them.
Would this do?

Buy a piece of brand-name luggage at a thrift shop, garage sale,
craigslist, etc.
