POWER MITER SAWS

i am in a quandry about power miter saws.... what is the main difference
between delta, hitachi and dewalt ? and for that matter why include craftsman
and rigid saws? i have looked at all of them.... and tried most of them....
i went to berland's and point blank asked the fellow waiting on me and he
recommended the hitachi... not the most expensive..... when i asked why...
he said *tolerances*.... i have used a delta and a craftsman.... and i really
couldn't tell a difference... after setting the marking pin on both of
them..... both seemed to cut exactly the same... i like the idea of a zero
tolerrance throat on the hitachi.... but then, craftsman has the same, as does
the rigid.....

any help would be greatly appreciated..... i am a hobbyist by nature, but
SWMBO has a number of projects and xmas is coming quickly.....
thanx in advance

I was about to buy a low end Delta but when I pulled the blade down I
noticed some flex. I looked at several and if you didn't pull straight
down the blade (motor and all) would move a small amount to either
side. I tried a DeWalt and didn't find any flex so I went that route.
I've only had time to make a few cuts with it but have been happy with
the limited results. Just one thing I would check in any brand you
make look at.

It really depends on what you intend on using it for. I owned a Delta
for 6 years and it served me well. I wanted one that had more to
offer for angle adjustments a smoother starting motor. I chose the
sliding 10" Bosch and I'm impressed with the quality.
