OT: XNews viewing threads with new articles

Could a fellow Xnews user advise on how you keep track of interesting
threads that were a few days back without constantly going back and
checking to see if there were new articles in there?

I know I can use the unthreaded view, but it would be much simplier to have
a view that shows either marked threads or ?? with new posts.

Hello Alan;

The way that I do it is to save the first post in a thread, and any
subsequent ones that are posted with it, that I want to keep.

The next time that I open Xnews up, that thread and any new entries
will be posted at the top of the page.

Hope that will help.

You can also do this: Article>Add to Score File>Watch Entire Thread

This will highlight any new posts to threads you are interested in.
The "Kill Entire Thread" option is handy in the same way - you don't see
additional posts to the latest right-tilt/left-tilt debate, or whatever
else doesn't interest you.

Kill Entire Thread is also handy for getting rid of all of the messages
that are cross posted. I have killed all other groups such as alt., misc.,
sci..... and a few levels deeper such as rec.photo and rec.pets that are
sending all of the junk to this group. It has really cleaned up the group
for me.

You can also decide how long the filter is in effect. I have used never
expire.
