DoD Identifies Army Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier
who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Mark W. Melcher, 34, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died in Al
Taqaddum, Iraq on April 15, when his M1A1 Abrams tank came under enemy
small-arms fire during combat operations. Melcher was assigned to the
National Guard's 1st Battalion, 103rd Armor, Friedens, Pa.
