have paint prices gone up
seems like it has but have not followed them historically very closely
they seem a bit higher than i recall
do all states charge the recycling fee
seems like a scam since there is no way for the consumer to recover
that fee like with cans or bottles
i hear that some states charge a mattress recycling fee now too and
there is no way to recover that either
seems like everything is water based now

Line a 5 gal pail with a trash bag, pour in waste latex paint, and mix with=
kitty-litter and/or sawdust...Let dry/cure and throw out with solid waste.=
Liquid latex paint is considered hazmat, while oil-based/alkyd is not (go =
figure). Most hdwr stores sell an additive to mix with latex that causes it=
to harden, should be free, but is far from it...

i looked into it and there is a sliding scale and so larger paint cans
means a larger tax up to some max depending on the state
half pint and less and there is no charge but differs state to state
all sounds very scammy
in austria they have plasma based generators and from what i read
almost anything goes in and is highly efficient heat conversion with
very little waste and some ashes
they began importing trash from finland
but here they bury it all and charge you extra for the privilege
really do not know what they do with waste paints and other toxics
incinerate or chemical treatments
i do not know

Yes, IMO the recycling fee is a scam. I just let the paint dry out and
put the can in the trash bag. The fee is not a deposit like you pay in
cans and bottles, just a form of a tax.
Some places to accept paint though. Check with your paint store.
