Recently bought a point and shoot Olympus digital camera.
Had a question that I couldn't find an answer to in the manual.
Olympus has a service center less than 10 miles away.
Decided to call and got into the dreaded voice mail game, but what the
heck, it was local right?
Before I go any farther, let me document that the camera was made in
China, and the manual was printed in China.
I hang on voice mail.
Finally a female answers with that "aw shucks" North Carolina twang,
"May I help you?"
DAMN!!!
A customer service person I could understand.
Kudos to Olympus.
Lew
PS: Yes, she was in N/C and my question was answered.

Strictly a point and shoot /W/ 5:1 Optical zoom and
8 MegaPixels.
Lew
How do you like it so far? Image quality and so forth?
That's what the 1030 is, nothing fancy, just -well- hopefull Jeep proof. It
does small videos too. I thought that would be cool when trying to get a
shot of someone on three wheels or having a pucker moment on a big rock :¬D
I used to have an E-10, when it was the brand new big bad boy and it was a
great camera, excellent resolution but became a little slow. I now have an
EVolt E-500 and it's fast, but the image quality is very poor. Forget about
shooting macros, and that's one of my favorite things to shoot.

You go a member of the cleaning staff, huh? l~)
Hey Lew,
Which model did you get?
I just ordered an Olympus Stylus 1030 SW.
I wanted something fairly bullet proff for Jeeping since my digital SLR got
the s**t beat out of it on our trip to Coon Creek this spring - I still have
to have it cleaned.
Just curious, was looking for a bit of a review. Hopefully mine will be here
by Monday.

Mine just arrived today.
I have to tell you, I am truly impressed!
It does a helluva job on fine detail and the little moviettes are certainly
good enough for Jeepin!
Yep, I think it's going to be a great little camera and the best part is
that the dust, rain and concussions of off roading won't do it any harm.
Looks like my Olympus digital slr, and both lenses are headed for Ebay!
Who'da thunk it!
Thanks Lew, enjoy your toy!

The shortest distance between two points,
is a lot more fun in a Jeep!

I'm a record keeper, not a photographer.
As a result, it far exceeds my needs.
Even does videos but my Super 8 video still works, so who knows.
Looks like my old faithful 35mm Ricoh, the last of the manual 35mm's,
complete with a couple of lenses, is headed for the shelf.
