news.snet.sbcglobal.net does, which is a former SBC server rolled into at&t.
It sounds like you have the old AT&T service, where many of us have
former SBC news accounts which migrated to Prodigy, and then rolled up
into at&t service.

Great job, though I think the spalted oak is too much of a contrast
with the Walnut.

Thank you, I kinda was thinking the drawer front may have been too much of
a contrast. The corner spalted oak pieces actually improved the look. The
desk seemed to always be missing something until I added them.

Thank you Sir!
And thanks again for pointing me towards the Rotex. I stayed relatively
clean through out the whole project with the vac keeping all the dust in
check. But then again, you always get dirty hands when working with dark
woods. ;~)
A couple of months ago I also got the Festool finish sander and it too works
like a charm.

I think the desk would look at home in a 1860's Texas sheriff's office. I
keep picturing wanted posters hanging above it. Thanks for noticing all the
parts that I put the extra effort in to.

I'm using astraweb as newsserver for those groups that Verizon is now
preventing me from frequenting. 25 GB for $10. So far (since about June
20) I used up 50 MB. So I'll be set for years, since the credit doesn't
expire. My posts do not appear to get there as fast as with Verizon
(which is instantaneously, as far as I can determine), but they all do
get there within minutes (and propagate to the Verizon servers
instantly), and other aspects seem to be great as well. See

If you're going to be dumb around Doctor Ruth you better be _really_
tough. She lived on a kibbutz and was a sniper in the Israeli Army.
In the '70s she'd have been in her late 40s to early 50s--she looks
older than she is, probably from all that time spent running around in
the desert.

Maybe the most fitting use of your signature yet!
From Wiki she's still alive, and 80 years old.

The news group server inetnews.worldnet.att.net
does NOT carry that news group.
I'm not sure why.

I can. I'm on ATT and it is still there. Nice looking wood. I especially
like the corner shot showing the leg and top.

Here's a free website where you can upload your pictures then paste a
link here.

I had AT&T Worldnet which has a completely different news server than
AT&T FastAccess (formally BellSouth). There are no longer any
alt.binaries in BellSouth. I'm not about to create another monthly
charge, but would like to see the Walnut Desk. There are some
websites that offer free photo storage which I will have to start
using to post any binaries.

I noticed that I have access to about 30,000 newsgroups. Used to
have 90,000 and more. After doing a search on "woodworking" I got the
following hits (on newsgroups.bellsouth.net):
free.uk.woodworking
msn.forums.crafts.woodworking
msn.forums.homeandgarden.woodworking
net.crafts.woodworking.general
rec.woodworking
No binaries here and I've been considering dropping AT&T.

Sorry David, check my response to Phisherman, I posted links to see the
pictures at the .www.fumpr.com site.
Thanks Leon. Beautiful desk. And Fumpr should work for everybody
wanting to view/post/share pictures for free.

No can do. I can't access this newsgroup from comcast.
The only free binary newsgroup there was for jewish porn.
Soooooooo...., if you want us to see it, you need to post it to
free.binaries.pictures.erotica.jewish.
Although I am not sure that we would be able to find a walnut desk among all
the flesh.

Well, I wasn't all that interested in doing a search for that bit of
trivia, but that's quite interesting. Back in 1985, she looked quite aged
(alright, I was in my 20's, but still I could certainly tell the difference
between 40's, 50's, & 60's, most of the time.) So, at the time, she was
just pushing 60.

Could maybe somebody who access to both post to abpw?
I would love to see what you've done; your past work has always been
really good.

If you're going to be dumb, you better be tough
free.* is not one of the 8 sets of groups that Verizon will let you access.
Sorry, I would have liked to see it.
I like walnut in furniture.
How did you finish it?
