OT: sort of

I have to redo the shower in our bedroom. The tile is ceramic on I
believe a concrete base at least on the floor.

The house was built in 1968 and the tile are original

I need to replace some of the tile as they are cracked. Can some one
recommend a source of tiles to match the original 1968 tile?

Remove the vanity and see if there are matching tiles under/behind it. Or
maybe even behind the toilet tank. Anywhere that you can take a tile or two
that won't be obvious.

My local tile shop has quite a collection of "old" tiles in their warehouse.
Just a few of the weird colors and paterns from previous tiling jobs. Might
ask your local tile shops. These tend to be shoved in bins deep in a
warehouse, not out in the showroom. This tile shop is also the one that
most of the local contractors use, so I suspect they get a lot of requests
for old tiles during repair jobs.

I'm replacing the tiles in my 1962 house. Pink, baby blue, and metal
flake... YUK!

Good luck.

Assuming that you are not the original owner of the house, have you checked in
the deep recesses and corners of your attic. I have found extras of various
things for my house squirreled away. These include a substantial amount of the
brick (OK that wasn't hidden, it was stored in the garage between the chimney
column and a wall), the ceramic in the entry, various carpets, all wallpapers,
basement ceiling tiles, etc. I never even looked in the far corners of the
attic for several years after I moved in.

Our tile guy bought extra everything for future efforts.

Perhaps one of your neighbors. My subdivision was built in the 1960's and
pretty frequently there are the original pink, yellow and blue toilets,
sinks & tubs, and the metal kitchen cupboards, sitting out for the garbage
haulers to take away. I snagged my next door neighbor's cabinets for shop
cabinets when he remodeled. ;-)

How about going with a contasting or accent tile where needed? Make it look
planned.
