OT: What's for supper

I slaughtered a goat Sunday and goat has been on the
menu all this week. Sunday we had the tenderloin cubed
and fried and liver and lights, goat burger Monday.
The rest of the carcass was boiled and cooked with
pinto beans last night, tonight a pound of okra was
added to the beans and broth. To make it somewhat
on topic it was stirred with a wooden spoon.

Goat is under appreciated in North America it has
less calories, saturated fat and cholesterol than
chicken and I can't tell it from beef.

Anyone dealing with heart and cholesterol issues
would be wise to eat goat.

A MOBILE goat wash. Your mind travels in interesting places, Swing....
but as I got some of my cynic training from you <G> I feel compelled
to point out that the enviro-nazis would be all over that concept.
Water treatment, waste-disposal, feeees.....feces-fees, can't take
'goat-wash' across state lines, etc., etc. Goatwash licenses... Wait..
ORGANIC GOAT WASH SOAP!!!

I've never had goat. It's not commonly available in western Canada, but
I'm sure I could find it if I went looking.

I'm not sure I believe "can't tell it from beef", though...

Hey, I like chicken feet. There's a dim sum place nearby that do them
up really well. Haven't had pig snout, but wouldn't turn my nose up at
it...

There is a major supermarket nearby that does carry halal food. I
haven't been there in a long time (hate their pricing policies, they're
a warehouse club -- Only $0.79 each if you buy 356! Otherwise $2.59,)
but I recall they did carry goat in the "trapped in the 1300s" section.

PETA would be all over you for suggesting that. It is, after all, not
the goat's fault if he smells a little worse than the 'others'. Why
single him out, huh? What do you have against the smelliest ones, huh?

Other than that, it is a great idea, with one other problem: who gets
to do all the development work on the sniffer? What would that proto-
type lab smell like?

The difference in ground beef and ground goat is slight,
has a more ground round taste rather than ground beef taste.
It is much milder in flavor than lamb.

Even here in the South where it is not uncommon to see chicken
feet and pig snouts(no kidding) in the grocery store, goat is
not commercially available, but there are online outlets, for
goat.

I've got about 6 more to kill this year, most will be ground up
and will be enough to supply us for the year.

A lot of people kill the males as soon as they are born and
bbq them whole, but I can't kill a newborn,(I'm an old softie) so I let
them get older and
will eat the tenderest parts and grind the rest.

Due to the influx of Mexicans the price
of goats has doubled in the last few years.

"Cabrito" here in Texas, or "Chevon" in S. Louisiana ... damn good stuff.

Lots of it here in Texas, but getting hard to get a hold of since the
demand is so high.

How about a SOLAR-powered mobile robotic goat washer that cleans up the
ground as well as the goats? A sniffer sensor would allow it to go after
the goatiest goats first...

It's only the rams (uncut males) that stink. Wethers (neutered males) and
nannies smell like wool sweaters.

If A&M would develop a goat that didn't smell like a goat, I would
probably have one in my yard.

My dad got a couple when I was young. They cleaned up the brier
patches, stripped the bark off young chinaberry trees and ate it, ate
the tops out of small pine trees and prospered. When they started
eating the tractor tires they had to go.
