Just needing to vent.
Per my advice, I told the wife it's not a good idea to dump the shredded
chicken down the disposal. Well, she did anyway thinking if she keeps
the disposal running, it'll pass through. Now, both sinks (double
kitchen sink) and the bathroom sink (on the same wall other side) are
plugged up. I removed all pipes under the sink to clear and confirm
blockage and broke one side of the sink pipe from drain. Therefore, the
drain needs to be snaked. The good news is all other drains are fine and
I assume blockage is mainly in the wall before it hits the main drain.
I'm also glad I have a plumber friend who will lend me his snake, but I
hate snaking. It's such a freaking mess. Other than the cost of a new
drain pipe, it'll simply cost me time away from what plans I had for
tomorrow.
When will women start listening and stop thinking they know what's best
when it comes to not only things they know little about but things we
men know more about. You single guys, don't do it. Stay single. Women
make you age faster.

Hum - my 3HP auto reversing unit states that egg shells can slip
along the edge of the spinning disk and do a jam fit.
I've seen one that was done that way and a 15" wrench onto the Allen
just bent the Allen wrench. It is akin to a dime in a door jam - maybe
a penny. Can't open the door since it needs to move in a radius and is
stopped.

You are correct that it won't jam the disposal, but too much can clog
the drain. We just put the coffee grounds on the compost pile or in the
trash, same with egg shells.

FWIW, the manual for the disposal reccommends putting chicken
bones down the thing, apparently on the idea that they'll
scrape gunk off the cutters and other parts of the mechanism
as they go thru.

No - they haven't bothered to post server status for years.
I assume they had to perform maintenance of some kind - that
happens every few months, and they're usually down for 3 or
4 hours when they do.

I doubt it. The eccentricity of an eggshell makes that pretty unlikely for all but the tiniest
fragments of shell.

I'm calling bullshit on this. There's no way an eggshell jammed a disposer tight enough to
bend a steel wrench. Eggshells just aren't that strong. There must have been something
else in there besides, maybe a fragment of bone.

She puts chicken breast in a crock pot for several hours and the stuff
falls apart and melts in your mouth. Great for chicken tacos and
whatnot. Anyway, it was an old batch we forgot in the fridge. Not only
does it melt in your mouth, it goops in your drain when wet.

Eggshells jamming a disposal would defeat the phrase "walking on
eggshells".
I agree, I cannot nor will not accept the argument of an eggshell's
ability to jam a disposal. If so, I would have had jams continuously for
the past several decades since I always throw eggshells in the disposal
when in fact, I never had one.

Whatever you put down the disposal requires copious amounts of water
to flush it down the pipe.
