Solid brass draw catch?

I want something like this:

http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2001103/33063/Draw-Catch-Pair-Brass-Finish.aspx

but cast brass, not brass plated steel.

This is close:

http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2003743/2062/Medium-Catch.aspx

but lacks the draw function and is just a bit too small (there doesn't
seem to be a large).

After looking a bit more, I did find a solid brass draw catch, but
it's _huge_:

I would look at suppliers of hardware for musical instrument & flight
cases. A quick look via google for "instrument case catches" brought up
a full page of suppliers with solid brass catches...

Looking even harder, I found a small solid brass one which _was_ sold
by a purse hardware manufacturer for use on cigar box purses, but is
discontinued.

I also found a poker chip box which has solid brass catches on it, but
can't bring myself to purchase the boxes, remove (or replace) the
catch and then dispose of the box.

Looking more closely at this, it seems to me that I'll likely have to
modify the bar and place it very carefully and add some sort of washer
or ring to the post to ensure that it closes securely --- has anyone
done this?

Does anyone have any experience w/ these? My concerns are:

- appearance --- doesn't appeal
- snag possibility? there're a lot of openings
- security --- how much torquing will it hold up against

I suspect you're right. I'll probably go w/ a pair of the medium
catches.

Broaden your search to include Marine Hardware stores / chandlers

You will see lots in stainless steel, but there are lots of brass fittings
out there.
As far as sizes go, they will be (tiny) for securing instrument cases to
(huge) engine hatches.
One such place is West Marine.

For such things I first search Google, then click on Images, then
filter by image color. Brass is yellow.

Here's the search term:
"Solid brass" draw +(catch, latch)

And the filtered image results:

I suspect you may not find a solid brass latch "with draw function".
Brass is relatively soft and will probably stretch/deform in that use.
