Anyone ever have any trouble with the electric brake on their saw? Mine
seemed to kick in rather late (One or two seconds after it should). It only
happened once, no sign of it again. Can anyone shed some light as to what
might be happening?

Mike

Usually it means the brushes in the motor are getting worn.

Hi Mike,

The brushes have to be seated perfectly on the commutator plates for that
function to work also the switch contacts inside must be clean, sometimes
the switch might have a small amount of burnt surface on the contacts, if it
happens to be released without making a positive contact right away there
can be a delay in the electric brake function, if the contacts become badly
arced you have to replace the switch (not expensive at all). When the
armature eventually becomes very worn & dished at the commutator plates
after many many hours of use or abuse the only solution is to replace the
armature for the brake to work (quite expensive but still worth doing).
Simplest thing to check is the brush condition...rule of thumb for that
model ** if the brushes are wider than they are long put in a new set, if
they are longer than they are wide you still have lots of life in them**
(very cheap to replace & being external, remove the caps & check them
often).

One of my favorite tools as far a servicing.....excellent design & quality!

Good luck.
